Backtesting is the process of testing a trading strategy on historical data. This allows traders to evaluate how well the strategy would have performed in the past and can help them determine if it is worth using. The idea is that if a strategy previously succeeded, it is likely to continue to do so in the future. If it was unsuccessful in the past, there's a good chance that it will fail again.
