• Profit: You buy shares of a stock at a lower price than you sell them for. This allows you to make money when the stock prices increase.
• Loss: You sell your shares of a stock at a higher price than you bought them for. This will cause you to lose money when the stock prices decrease.

The same logic applies to cryptocurrencies: replace shares of a stock with coins/tokens.
